Historically, Glanton was a relatively industrial village, although in recent years the level of industry has declined. Agriculture dominates the surrounding area.

The village offers some truly stunning views. However, despite its rural location, Glanton is within commuting distance of cities like Newcastle or even Edinburgh. Indeed, several residents of the village regularly travel to work in the metropolis and return to the countryside each evening.

The photographs below show some scenes in and around the village.
